Equipment

  • Large pitcher (32 oz or larger)
  • Muddler or wooden spoon
  • Fine-mesh strainer
  • Small saucepan
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Citrus juicer
  • Tall glasses for serving

Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh blackberries
  • 8-10 fresh sage leaves
  • 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice about 6-8 lemons
  • 3/4 cup honey or simple syrup
  • 4 cups cold water
  • Ice cubes
  • Extra blackberries and sage leaves for garnish

Instructions

  • Rinse the blackberries and sage leaves.
  • Place blackberries in the pitcher and muddle them gently to release their juice.
  • Heat honey and 1/2 cup water in a small saucepan over medium heat until honey dissolves.
  • Add sage leaves to the warm honey mixture and let steep for 5 minutes.
  • Strain the honey-sage mixture and let it cool completely.
  • Add lemon juice and remaining cold water to the muddled blackberries.
  • Pour in the cooled honey-sage mixture and stir well.
  • Strain the mixture to remove berry seeds and pulp.
  • Serve over ice and garnish with fresh blackberries and sage leaves.

Notes

Store the mocktail in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
You can adjust the honey amount based on your sweetness preference.
To make the sage flavor stronger, add more leaves during the steeping process.
Fresh ingredients work best, but frozen blackberries can be used when fresh ones aren't available.
The recipe makes about 6-8 servings.
