Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Muddler
  • Strainer
  • Jigger
  • Bar spoon
  • Tongs
  • Glass or punch bowl
  • Small bowl
  • Knife
  • Cutting Board
  • Crushed ice

Ingredients

  • 8-10 fresh mint leaves plus extra for garnish
  • 5-6 blackberries
  • 3-4 lime wedges plus more for serving
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice fresh
  • 2 tablespoons simple syrup
  • 1/4 teaspoon activated charcoal food grade
  • 2 ounces pomegranate juice
  • 1 drop black food coloring optional
  • 4-6 ounces club soda or sparkling water to top
  • crushed ice enough to fill glass
  • fresh mint and lime slices for garnish

Instructions

  • Add mint leaves and lime wedges to the bottom of your glass or shaker.
  • Gently muddle to release the oils and juice.
  • Add blackberries and muddle again until juicy.
  • Pour in simple syrup, lime juice, and pomegranate juice.
  • Sprinkle in activated charcoal and (if using) black food coloring. Stir well.
  • Fill the glass to the top with crushed ice.
  • Shake or stir well to mix everything together.
  • Top with club soda or sparkling water.
  • If you prefer, strain the drink to remove seeds and pulp.
  • Garnish with fresh mint, blackberries, and lime slices. Serve immediately.

Notes

Use only food grade activated charcoal. If you don't have pomegranate juice, cranberry juice is a great substitute. Adjust sweetness by swapping club soda for soda water or reducing simple syrup. Chilling your glass helps keep the mocktail colder longer. For a party, scale the recipe up and serve in a punch bowl.
