Bitter Apple Negroni Cocktail

Bitter Apple Negroni Cocktail Recipe
A crisp, fall-leaning riff on the classic Negroni. Dry gin, Campari, sweet vermouth, and a splash of apple brandy deliver a bitter backbone with a bright, tart apple note. Optional grapefruit juice adds a citrus edge.

Equipment

  • Mixing glass
  • Bar spoon
  • Jigger
  • Strainer
  • Rocks glass
  • Citrus juicer
  • Peeler or knife
  • Ice cubes

Ingredients

  • 1 oz gin dry style
  • 1 oz Campari
  • 1 oz sweet vermouth
  • 0.5 oz applejack or apple brandy
  • 0.25 oz grapefruit juice fresh, optional
  • ice cubes for stirring and serving
  • grapefruit or apple peel for garnish

Instructions

  • Fill a mixing glass halfway with ice.
  • Add gin, Campari, sweet vermouth, applejack (or apple brandy), and grapefruit juice (if using).
  • Stir gently for about 30 seconds until well chilled.
  • Strain into a rocks glass over a large cube.
  • Express a grapefruit or apple peel over the drink, then drop it in as a garnish.

Notes

Swap dry vermouth for a lighter, more herbal profile. For a spritzy variation, top with a splash of prosecco (Negroni Sbagliato) or club soda. If the drink reads too bitter, add a touch more vermouth or apple brandy to soften it.
