Equipment

  • Blender or food processor
  • Fine-mesh strainer
  • Pitcher (at least 64 oz capacity)
  • Long spoon for stirring.
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Ice cube tray (optional for berry ice cubes)
  • Glasses for serving
  • Knife and cutting board

Ingredients

  • 2 cups mixed berries strawberries, blueberries, raspberries
  • 1 cup fresh lemon juice about 6-8 lemons
  • ½ cup sugar or honey adjust to taste
  • 6 cups cold water
  • 1 lemon thinly sliced for garnish
  • Fresh mint leaves for garnish
  • Ice cubes
  • Optional: 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • Optional: Sparkling water for added fizz

The quality of berries matters in this recipe.

Instructions

  • Prepare the berry puree: Wash the berries thoroughly. Add them to a blender and blend until smooth. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer to remove seeds.
  • Mix the lemonade base: In a large pitcher, combine the lemon juice and sugar. Stir until sugar dissolves completely.
  • Combine ingredients: Add the strained berry puree to the lemonade mixture. Pour in the cold water and stir well to combine all ingredients.
  • Chill and serve: Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to blend. When ready to serve, fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the berry lemonade over them.
  • Garnish: Add lemon slices and fresh mint leaves to each glass. For an extra special touch, add a splash of sparkling water just before serving.

Notes

This mocktail keeps well in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. The flavor actually improves after a few hours as the ingredients meld together.
For a fun variation, freeze some of the berry puree in ice cube trays. Add these colorful ice cubes to the drinks for extra berry flavor as they melt.
The recipe is easy to adjust based on taste preferences. If you prefer a sweeter drink, add more sugar. For a tangier version, increase the lemon juice.
This recipe serves approximately 8 people. It can be doubled for larger gatherings or halved for smaller servings.
