Equipment

  • Blender or food processor
  • Fine-mesh strainer
  • Pitcher (at least 2-quart capacity)
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Wooden spoon or spatula for mixing
  • Ice cube trays
  • Tall glasses for serving
  • Cutting board and knife

Ingredients

For the berry puree:

  • 2 cups mixed berries strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries
  • 2 tablespoons sugar or honey
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

For the lemonade base:

  • 1 cup fresh lemon juice about 6-8 lemons
  • ¾ cup sugar or honey
  • 6 cups cold water
  • Ice cubes
  • Fresh mint leaves and lemon slices for garnish
  • For a less sweet version reduce the sugar by ¼ cup. You can use frozen berries if fresh ones aren't available. Thaw them first for the best results.

Instructions

Prepare the berry puree:

  • Wash the berries thoroughly. Remove stems from strawberries and slice into smaller pieces.
  • Place all berries in a blender with 2 tablespoons sugar and 1 tablespoon lemon juice. Blend until smooth.

Strain the puree:

  • Pour the berry mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a bowl, pressing with a spoon to extract all the juice. Discard the seeds and solids.

Make the lemonade base:

  • In a large pitcher, combine the fresh lemon juice and sugar. Stir until the sugar dissolves.
  • Then, add water and mix well.

Combine and chill:

  • Add the strained berry puree to the lemonade and stir gently.
  • Refrigerate for at least 1 hour to let the flavors blend.

Serve:

  • Pour over ice in tall glasses. Garnish with fresh mint leaves and lemon slices.

Notes

Store any leftover mocktail in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. The color may darken slightly, but the taste remains good.
For a fizzy version, replace half the water with sparkling water or club soda. Add the sparkling water just before serving to maintain the bubbles.
You can create fun ice cubes by freezing small berries or mint leaves in water. These add extra visual appeal to the drinks.
For adult gatherings, this mocktail can become a cocktail by adding 1.5 oz of vodka or white rum per serving.
