Equipment

  • Tall glass (12-16 oz)
  • Cocktail shaker or mason jar with lid
  • Muddler or wooden spoon
  • Fine-mesh strainer
  • Measuring tools (jigger or measuring spoons)
  • Ice cube tray
  • Citrus juicer or reamer
  • Bar spoon or long-handled spoon
  • Cutting board and knife

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup mixed berries strawberries, blueberries, raspberries
  • 2 oz 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1 oz 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 1 oz 2 tablespoons simple syrup
  • 3-4 fresh mint leaves
  • 4 oz 1/2 cup club soda or sparkling water
  • Ice cubes
  • Lemon or lime wheel for garnish
  • Optional: 1/2 oz 1 tablespoon berry syrup for extra flavor

The quality of berries affects the final taste. Fresh berries provide the best flavor, but frozen berries (thawed) work too.

Instructions

  • Wash berries thoroughly and remove any stems.
  • Place berries and mint leaves in the cocktail shaker or jar. Gently muddle them to release juices and oils.
  • Add lemon juice, lime juice, and simple syrup to the shaker.
  • Fill the shaker halfway with ice cubes and shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds.
  • Strain the mixture into a tall glass filled with fresh ice.
  • Top with club soda or sparkling water. Stir gently with a bar spoon.
  • Garnish with a lemon or lime wheel and a few fresh berries on a cocktail pick.

The drink should have a beautiful gradient effect with the berry mixture at the bottom. For best presentation, pour the club soda slowly over the back of a spoon.

    Notes

This mocktail stays fresh for about 30 minutes before the carbonation begins to flatten. Make individual servings rather than large batches for the best taste and fizz.
For a sweeter version, increase simple syrup to 1.5 oz. For a less sweet option, reduce to 0.5 oz and add more citrus.
The recipe serves one person but can be easily multiplied for groups. Keep the berry mixture separate from the sparkling water until ready to serve.
For a kid-friendly version, reduce the citrus by half and use lemon-lime soda instead of club soda. This mocktail pairs well with light appetizers or as a brunch beverage.
