  • Fine-mesh strainer
  • Large glass or pitcher
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Thick bubble tea straws
  • Spoon: For stirring.
  • Small bowl (for sugar syrup)
  • Tongs or slotted spoon (for boba)

Ingredients

  • 1 black tea bag or 1 tsp loose leaf
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup quick-cook black tapioca pearls boba
  • 1/2 cup fresh raspberries plus extra for garnish
  • 3/4 cup sparkling water
  • 1/2 cup ice cubes
  • 1 –2 drops black food coloring optional, for darker color
  • 1 slice lemon or lime for garnish, optional

Instructions

Brew the tea:

  • Steep black tea in 1/2 cup hot water for 3–5 minutes. Let cool.

Cook the boba:

  • Boil boba pearls according to package directions.
  • Rinse under cold water and soak in a bowl with brown sugar to create syrup.

Prepare fruit base:

  • In a bowl or glass, mash fresh raspberries until juicy.

Assemble the mocktail:

  • In a large glass, combine cooled tea, raspberry mash, and a spoonful of brown sugar syrup.
  • Add ice cubes and sparkling water.
  • Stir gently.
  • Spoon in boba pearls.
  • Add black food coloring if desired.

Garnish & Serve:

  • Add fresh raspberries or a lemon/lime slice for garnish.
  • Serve immediately with a thick bubble tea straw.
