Chamomile Citrus Cooler Mocktail Recipe
Whenever I want a refreshing drink that feels a little special but doesn’t have any alcohol, this is my go-to. The flavors come from calming chamomile tea, a splash of citrus, and a few little extras like honey and fresh mint.
Equipment
- Teapot or Saucepan: I use this to steep the chamomile tea.
- Strainer: For removing tea bags or flowers.
- Large Pitcher: For mixing everything together.
- Stirring Spoon: Helps blend honey, citrus, and tea.
- Citrus Juicer: Makes squeezing oranges and limes easier.
- Measuring Cups and Spoons: For getting all the amounts right.
- Muddler (Optional): If I feel like muddling mint leaves for extra flavor.
- Glasses: Wide or tall glasses really show off the bubbles and fruit.
- Ice Tray: I like my mocktail very chilled, so plenty of ice is a must.
- Garnishing Tools: Tongs or small scissors work well for adding edible flowers or mint.
Ingredients
- 2 cups water
- 2 chamomile tea bags or 2 tablespoons dried chamomile flowers
- 1/4 cup honey or agave syrup
- 1/2 cup fresh orange juice (about 1 large orange)
- Juice of 1/2 lime
- 1 cup sparkling water or club soda
- Fresh mint leaves (plus extra for garnish)
- Ice cubes
- Lime wedges (for garnish)
- Edible flowers (optional, for decoration)
Instructions
- Bring water to a gentle boil, then pour it over the chamomile tea bags or flowers in a teapot or heat-safe pitcher.
- Let steep for 5–10 minutes for a stronger flavor. Remove tea bags or strain out the flowers.
- Stir in honey (or agave syrup) until fully mixed while the tea is still warm.
- Let the tea cool to room temperature, then place it in the fridge to chill for at least 30 minutes.
- Once cold, add orange juice, lime juice, and a handful of fresh mint leaves.
- Fill glasses halfway with ice cubes.
- Pour in the chamomile citrus tea mixture until glasses are two-thirds full.
- Top with sparkling water or club soda and stir gently.
- Garnish each glass with a lime wedge, extra mint, and a few edible flowers if you like.
Notes
I like to use local honey because it adds a floral taste, but agave syrup also works if you want to keep it vegan. Steeping the tea for longer makes the chamomile flavor stronger, but don’t steep too long or it might taste bitter.
Sometimes I muddle a few mint leaves at the bottom of my glass for an extra burst of mint. If you’re serving a crowd, double the recipe and keep the base (without the bubbles) chilled until ready to serve.
Always add the sparkling water or club soda at the last minute so it stays fizzy. Edible flowers make it look beautiful, but honestly, they’re totally optional.
